LAMB!

Way back in the late 70′s I was in a small group meeting in New York City and first heard this piece:  ”Sacrifice Lamb” by the Messianic Christian group LAMB, being used as worship for the dozen-odd goyim making up that prayer and study group.     Through the years I have always wound losing my LAMB because I lend it out or give it away – it’s that good.     The band has since split up, with the two going on to other good works.   Look for them on youtube and in re-issues of their old stuff.    Get your inner Jew out!    Here’s another LAMB classic, “Eli, Eli (‘y’dee dee)” (My God, my beloved Friend.)

A bit of personal trivia:  The name of the hard drive on my personal computer is “Wild Olives” — because I understand that I have been “grafted on” to the natural branch.   My understanding of this came about in part because of the inspiration that came from this duo.

Robin Mark

Check out this offering from worship leader Robin Mark.     Robin leads worship in a body composed of both Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.   I’ve always enjoyed the smoothness of his musical approach, and you will not find anything that smacks of the “Jesus is my Boyfriend” genre in his work.

“Hiding Place” by John Michael Talbot, a Catholic brother, is always a favorite of mine.   Whilst struggling with all the issues that went along with being divorced — the reactions of other believers; the divorce and my lost relationship; the betrayal — this was consistently a place of comfort for me.  Enjoy.   This youtube link has some audio tacked on the front and back of the song.
